The task of designing the original Tuned 1 was given to Sean McDowell. And the "fingers" on the sides?. Mc Dowell saw those as palm trees, silhouetted against the sky. The Tuned Air technology made it's first public appearance in 1998 with the Nike Air Max Plus.
